I know you probably know this but rainwater harvesting is illegal in Colorado.... dumb as that sounds and truly IS. Don't get caught or they'll send the water police to fine you.

I got loads of apples from a neighbor and made apple/cranberry sauce that I canned. It's so fresh and delicious. I also made some ginger apple butter that I'm totally wild about. Just wish there was a way to make it without as much sugar. I cut the amount in half, but it still seemed like a lot. Am enjoying your blog, especially since we're Bountiful Gardens fans, too.

It's a very hard choice sometimes. I vote for the garden. Maybe it's a carbon neutral trade?

If you're ever in Colorado Springs go to Wild Ginger on W. Colorado and order their Eggplant Prawn. It's too die for. I ended up with lots of eggplant from a neighboring farm this year, and canned something called Brinjal pickle. It's a condiment for rice and meats that's traditional in Indian cooking.... very spicey and very good!

Love NaBloWriMo.... posting daily!

I discovered your blog from your signature on SLN. I'm an urban chick and am very envious of your gardening. But I can use the eggplant recipe, so thanks for that. I usually cook it the same way all the time and could use a change of pace. I do like your foraging list as well. I manage of bit of foraging even in the city and certainly when I travel outside the city. When everyone is looking at the vast scenery on vacation, I'm always looking at the weeds.
